22 October 2011
With 80% of the visitors to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London expected to pass through Heathrow, the staff at the UK’s busiest airport are preparing for the masses.
Heathrow planners are responding to the challenge by recruiting over 1000 volunteers. The volunteers will have the opportunity to meet and greet the athletes and foreign dignitaries, and will be on the front line of the UK’s celebrations, giving both the first and last impression of the country as people come and go.
The selection day is 12 November 2011, so there’s just over two weeks in which to apply!
Any London residents can apply to be volunteers.
Heathrow are also recruiting volunteers for the Queen’s Diamond Jubliee, another event that is set to put the UK on the map once again, following hot on the heels of the Royal Wedding and the Games.
